Happy first Friday of July! Being the first Friday of the month, I'm linking today's post to First Line Friday by Hoarding Books. Usually in July I feature a book by Sarah Sundin because her books just scream "America!" to me. However, I've recently stumbled across the most fascinating little book which I am pretty sure will be a defining feature of this month for me, and I want to talk about it with anyone who will listen! So, instead of a comfortable historical fiction/Christian romance book, today I'm featuring a fantasy (I think?) book that has me outside of my typical comfort zone, and yet somehow feels a little like home.
According to Goodreads, I am two books behind schedule for the amount of books I said I want to read this year. The end of June means we're halfway through the year, and ought to be at least halfway to any year-long reading goals set in January. Are you close to your goals, reading or otherwise?
My TBR (to be read) list has gotten nearly out of hand. Therefore, I have decided to do a post featuring ten books from it approximately every other week. Happy Monday! Today I'm taking a look at the next ten books on my TBR (to be read) list, hoping to weed out any that I no longer want to read. There's a lot of variety in this batch, so stick around and maybe you'll find something to add to your own list! Explanation: It... Continue Reading →
Within a week of the end of my Spring semester I had nearly an unreasonable amount of materials checked out from the library. A large portion, however, were cookbooks or gardening books which I flipped through and soon returned (or at least set in a pile to return a few at a time, so as... Continue Reading →
Happy Friday! The main story where I am has been the weather - we've been close to record lows! There has been snow, ice, and negative wind chills. None of those things are weather that I am used to! Thankfully, my work has been responsible with adjusting our operating hours so that staff can travel... Continue Reading →
I almost never get my monthly wrap-up posts out early, so I guess I'm starting the year with something different! It just fit the calendar best to post this today, and I don't expect to finish anything else before Monday, so I hope you don't mind. This month was full! I got through more books... What a week! After ten days off, being back at work this week has been a strange combination of relaxing and chaotic. For the most part, things have actually gone very smoothly. It has still been a tiring, though, and I know that isn't going to change anytime soon! My classes start back next week,... Continue Reading →
