November is such an exciting month this year! Since I’m no longer in school, I actually feel like I have time to plan and follow through with tasks for family and social events for the first time in a while. I’m looking forward to lots of baking and celebrating, and hopefully a little relaxing! There are so many good books to dive into this season, too. Hopefully my energy will continue to increase as the temperatures fall so that I can also make good progress on the books I hope to read in addition to keeping up with other things.

What I Want to Finish Reading

📚 Churches of Christ in Oklahoma: A History by W. David Baird Nonfiction, History
What Else I Might Read

Seasonal TBR Update
Originally shared here. I’m starting to work on my winter TBR list now, and I expect to share it in early December. I’ll have a little bit of a push to read more of the books from this list during November, but it’s not a huge priority to stick with it exactly. The concept has served me well, and I’m going to build on it moving forward.
Carryovers from Summer: 3/5 completed, +1 DNF

Clara’s Kitchen by Clara and Christopher Cannucciari ⭐⭐⭐⭐; Joyful Sorrow by Julie Busler ⭐⭐⭐⭐; The Extraordinary Deaths of Mrs. Kip by Sara Brunsvold ⭐⭐⭐⭐ review here; Crescendo by Allen Cheney DNF
Fiction: 0/5 completed, +1 DNF
Other Birds by Sarah Addison Allen DNF only because I knew I wouldn’t be able to finish it before my copy was due back to the library and I didn’t want to keep it from getting to another reader. I’ll definitely come back to this book.
Nonfiction: 0/6 completed, +2 DNF
The God Who Stays by Matthew West DNF; Let Me Be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliott DNF
Again, I intend to come back to both of these books eventually. This just wasn’t the right time for either of them.

Seasonal: 1/5 completed
The Flip Side by Shawn Johnson ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Mini review here
I hadn’t realized just how many books I have started and ended up not finishing recently; proportionally, it’s a lot. But, that just means that I tried the book and realized it wouldn’t be a good fit for me, which isn’t bad.
Goals for the Month
- Post here at least 3x per week
- Bake for my family and friends, including both a family Thanksgiving celebration and potentially a Friendsgiving for the first time
- Plan the annual interstate Secret Santa that I oversee with a group of friends from college
- Finalize the gifting plans I’ve already outlined for the coming holiday season and make sure they’re realistic
- Participate in approximately one blogging linkup per week
- Find out if the Christmas blogging events I’ve participated in before are happening again this year – and plan content if so
- Actually, plan December content regardless of whether I will be participating in any formal blogging events
- Enjoy the books I read!

Are you setting goals for this month? If so, do they include both literary and food-related concepts?
Until the next chapter,
Jana
