Wrapping Up October 2022

What a rush this month has been! From the Five Fall Favorites to Trunk or Treat, a lot has happened…and not quite as much reading as I would have liked. Here are my highlights from October 2022!

Books Completed This Month

๐Ÿ“š The Flip Side by Shawn Johnson YA Contemporary Fiction, Sports Fiction โญโญโญโญ Mini Review Here

Average Rating: 4โญs

Books Read, but Not Completed, This Month

๐Ÿ“š Crescendo by Allen Cheney and Julie Cantrell Nonfiction, Biography – DNF around 25% because everything so far has been depressing and difficult, and I just don’t want to keep reading more of the same. I’ll probably come back to it eventually.

๐Ÿ“š Let Me Be a Woman by Elisabeth Elliot Nonfiction – DNF after chapter 1 upon realizing that her theology has distinct differences from my own that I was not prepared to deal with. Will return when I can read it with more intentionality.

๐Ÿ“š Churches of Christ in Oklahoma: A History by W. David Baird Nonfiction, History – Around 15% and it’s actually very interesting.

๐Ÿ“š Delete That: And Other Failed Attempts to Look Good Online by John Crist Nonfiction, Memoir – Currently about 10% in and engaged but not entirely committed.

Other Highlights

Top Posts:

Podcasts Enjoyed: Classical Stuff You Should Know (esp. Templars series and Socrates Quartet); the episode titled Wisdom for Halloween from For the Gospel; Radically Christian Bible Study Podcast, especially the episode titled Speak Where the Bible Speaks and Be Silent Where It is Silent

Music of the Month:

Movies Watched: Sky High (2005) โญโญโญ.75; It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (1966) โญโญโญโญ.5

Etc.:

  • Lots of baking
  • Got out my violin for the first time in YEARS and enjoyed spending some time with it
  • Trunk or Treat with a group of friends where we all dressed up as Avengers (I was Darcy Lewis when she was Jane’s intern from the Thor movies) and managed to have most of our trunks next to each other
  • Attempted to make a pumpkin patch dirt cake, and learned that you cannot substitue oat milk for regular in chocolate pudding
  • Celebrated SO MANY birthdays

October was a busy-fun-chaotic month for me! What was a highlight of yours? Would you like to share your favorite book from this month?

Until the next chapter,

Jana
