New Release Spotlight: The God Who Stays by Matthew West

Happy Release Day to new book The God Who Stays: Life Looks Different with Him By Your Side by Matthew West!

While books by celebrities are not among my most common reads, it’s not unheard of for me to enjoy reading one. Matthew West may not be a big-name celebrity, but he is closer than most authors I read. Matthew West is a contemporary Christian musician with an incredible knack for lyrical storytelling. He’s released ten albums and won more awards than I can list here. Plus, he is one of the few musicians I have seen in person, although that was more than a decade ago. A few of his songs have shown up on the playlists I curated over the past few years. My favorite is probably The Reason for the World. Furthermore, I just found out that he has a weekly podcast which I intend to check out soon. In addition to being generally enjoyable songs, a significant portion of West’s music is pure storytelling. I have no doubts that this will translate well to writing a book; in fact, this is the fifth book West has written, but the first that really catches my attention. I’m truly looking forward to fitting this book into my morning reading rotation. Read/scroll on for the book’s full details!

About the Book

Title: The God Who Stays

Author: Matthew West

Genre: Nonfiction

Synopsis: Through the dramatic events of 2020 and the ensuing uncertainty and anxiety ever since, people’s lives and illusions of security have been turned upside down. Whenever our plans, hopes, and dreams are put on hold—or worse, lost forever—we feel discouraged, lost, and isolated, and desperately praying, “God, where are You?”

Matthew West’s newest book, The God Who Stays, is an engaging and thoughtful exploration, balanced with his trademark wit and humor, that helps us reconnect to the biblical truth of Immanuel—“God with us”—a personal Savior who never leaves our side and who always answers when we cry out for help.

I hope you’re having a good week so far, reader! It was so nice to have yesterday off from work because of Labor Day. I didn’t do anything exciting, and I didn’t even get to all of the mundane things that I hoped to, but it was restful and good for the soul nonetheless.

Have you read any good books by musicians that are not a memoir/autobiography?

Until the next chapter,

Jana
