Usually when I write monthly TBR & goals posts, I feel like I’m overflowing with things to do and looking forward to accomplishing so much in the month! This time, I’m a little hung up on how much I will have to read for my children’s literature class. I know they’re all children’s books and should go by quickly, but the sheer volume is still intimidating! Additionally, with my second class being about research, it also has a hefty reading load and projects that will take a substantial amount of time and attention. It’s all totally doable, it just sounds like a lot and I’m not sure how to make everything fit in the 168 hours of a week! So, I’m not sure what goals I can or should set for the month, beyond keeping up with these classes. Somehow this doesn’t seem to be shrinking my TBR list, however!

September TBR

- Finish reading these carryovers from August:
- Text, Lies, & Cataloging by Jana Brubaker; Nonfiction – Library Science
- Tables in the Wilderness by Preston Yancey; Nonfiction – Theology/Memoir
- Read these books for my children’s lit class:
- The Undefeated by Kwame Alexander
- Merci Suarez Changes Gears by Meg Medina
- Hello, Universe by Erin Entrada Kelly
- Swindle by Gordon Korman
- When the Sea Turned to Silver by Grace Lin
- Radiant Child by Javaka Steptoe
- + 5 bilingual picture books, 3 children’s poetry books, and potentially others to bolster read-a-like recommendations
- Read this new release (if time):
- The Bookseller’s Secret by Michelle Gable
Other September Goals
- Post at least twice a week
- Change the displays I’m responsible for at work
- Plan for the several birthdays I will celebrate in October
- Check in with year-long reading goals and plan/adjust as necessary for the last quarter of the year
- Keep up with meal planning/prep so that I don’t eat out for lunch and only get coffee once a week
- Complete first half of semester-long research project so that when my third class starts in October I’ll have some wiggle room in my homework schedule to adapt

What’s on your plate this month?
Until the next chapter,
Jana
Good luck, Jana. Life has a way of getting in the way sometimes.
