The First Line:
Evelyn Brand had done a crack bit of journalism, and she hadn’t even had to dress like a man to do so.
About the Book
Title: When Twilight Breaks
Author: Sarah Sundin
Genre: Historical Fiction
Synopsis: Evelyn Brand is an American foreign correspondent determined to prove her worth in a male-dominated profession and to expose the growing tyranny in Nazi Germany. To do so, she must walk a thin line. If she offends the government, she could be expelled from the country—or worse. If she does not report truthfully, she’ll betray the oppressed and fail to wake up the folks back home.
Peter Lang is an American graduate student working on his PhD in German. Disillusioned with the chaos in the world due to the Great Depression, he is impressed with the prosperity and order of German society. But when the brutality of the regime hits close, he discovers a far better way to use his contacts within the Nazi party—to feed information to the shrewd reporter he can’t get off his mind.
As the world marches relentlessly toward war, Evelyn and Peter are on a collision course with destiny.
When Twilight Breaks is definitely one of my most highly-anticipated books of 2021! I currently have it checked out from the library, but I think I am going to return it Monday and try again later to read it. Maybe I should cut back on my library check outs, but since they’re free, some days I just can’t help myself! Yesterday I checked out three books about macramé. I have never attempted macramé in my life, but it seems like something I might be able to pick up in time to make some useful and fun Christmas presents, so of course after having this thought process I had to see what books were available!
Have you been to a public library recently? If so, did you go looking for a specific book, or just to browse?

I loved this book. I have the same problem with the library, I get too many books out, and have ARC’s to read, that I never get to all the books! Sometimes I browse and sometimes I just go for specific books. My first line is from Jody Hedlund’s Come Back to Me. “Your father’s in a coma.” Happy reading!

I cut way back on accepting ARCs when I started grad school; I’m sure I would be drowning in them & library check-outs if I hadn’t! Happy Reading!

My first line is from the new one by Carrie Stuart Parks, Woman in Shadow:
“Why are those dogs barking?” I pointed across the wooden picnic table toward two obviously upset canines yelping nearby.
Fabulous book!
I love my library. Lately, because I have so many books to read for review, I go for their monthly book sale! And to put my request to purchase the latest Christian fiction books!
