WWW Wednesday January 13, 2021

WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s stand for the following questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? To participate, make a post or comment answering the three questions, link up to the host (Sam)’s post, and check out what others are reading and talking about! I typically participate once a month, approximately in the middle of the month, as a halfway check-in on my monthly reading goals.

What Am I Currently Reading?

The Common Rule: Habits of Purpose for an Age of Distraction📚 The Common Rule by Justin Whitmel Earley – Nonfiction, Christian living

This is my current breakfast read. It isn’t going to last much longer as I am flying through it!

🎧 The Mysterious Benedict Society by Trenton Lee Stewart – Middle Grade Fiction

Listening to this during my commute! The same blogger who recommended the Keeper of the Lost Cities series recommended this one, so I decided to give it a try.

📚 House of Leaves by Mark Z. Danielewski – Experimental Fiction

I have no idea how I am going to finish this 700+ page book before it is due back at the library, and there are a lot of other people on the library’s waiting list for it, but I’m giving it my best shot! So far I am not enjoying the actual reading process, but I am greatly enjoying the references to classic literature and formative myths, as well as the academic process of trying to put all the pieces of this narrative puzzle together.

📚 Laddie by Gene Stratton-Porter – Historical Fiction, lesser-known Classic

Choosing to read this book was a two-fold decision: first, because I love everything I have read by Gene Stratton-Porter, and second as an antithesis to House of Leaves. It’s lighthearted, innocent, fun, and set in the country during the late 1800s – everything that HoL is not!

What Did I Recently Finish Reading?

A Very Bookish Thanksgiving📚 A Very Bookish Thanksgiving by Kelsey Bryant, Sarah Holman, Rebekah Jones, J. Grace Pennington, and Amanda Tero – Collection of novellas set around Thanksgiving (which I started just before Thanksgiving, but then set aside between then and Christmas); ⭐⭐⭐⭐

📚 Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple – Contemporary Fiction; ⭐⭐⭐⭐ My Review

What Might I Read Next?

Shuttle, Houston: My Life in the Center Seat of Mission Control📚 Shuttle, Houston: My Life in the Center Seat of Mission Control by Paul Dye – Nonfiction, Memoir/Autobiography

📚 Eubeltic Quest (Eubeltic Realm #2) by Nadine Keels – Fantasy with a Historical Fiction feel; I know, I’ve been saying for weeks that I am going to read this book next – I mean it this time!

Do you have any thoughts or opinions on the books I listed? What books are on your mind today?

Until the next chapter,
