Library Loot/Mailbox Monday // September 14, 2020

Hey Readers! What are you planning to read this week?

I know I’ve already said this a few times, but school really is taking over my schedule this season. I’m enjoying diving into topics that are close to my heart and just learning in general, but it feels like I have basically signed away my free time until December! That isn’t stopping me from checking out a lot of materials from the library though, so today I’m joining the Mailbox Monday & Library Loot linkups to share the books and other library materials that are new to my life.

Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles and humongous wish lists.

Library Books

• A Girl’s Guide to the Outback by Jessica Kate – Contemporary, Clean Romance Fiction
  • This book is kind of on the disappointing side, but it’s fulfilling the Australia slot on my goal to read a book set in each continent.
• Making Sense of God by Timothy Keller – Nonfiction, Theology – Apologetics
  • My morning theology read! It’s very philosophy-heavy, but good at guiding the reader to consider multiple perspectives on complex topics relating to the Christian view of God. 
• The Lost City of Z by David Grann – Nonfiction, biography? Travelogue
  • I have not started this one yet. It’s my South American pick for the same challenge. 
• Libraries & Gardens: Growing Together by Carrie Scott Banks – Nonfiction, Libraries and Gardens
  • One of the biggest projects I have this semester is to create a “Pathfinder” website collecting certain types of resources on a topic of my (and my partner’s) choice. We chose community gardens and how libraries can utilize them to build community partnerships, so this book is the beginning of my research.
• The Community Gardening Handbook by Ben Raskin – Nonfiction, Community Gardens
  • Also for research!
• Therapeutic Gardens: Design for Healing Spaces – Nonfiction, Garden Design
  • A third for research!
• Flashback (Keeper of the Lost Cities #7) by Shannon Messenger – Young Adult Fantasy
  • I’m listening to this audiobook during my daily commute.

  • This is actually for class, too. We’re going to discuss this film during my next weekend class. 
• True Love Blooms (2019) DVD
  • I think I put this movie on hold around Valentine’s Day, and it finally arrived last week. Predictable Hallmark movies are my favorite; hopefully I find a time to watch it soon.
• La La Land (2016) soundtrack CD
  • For listening to while working on homework, so that Spotify isn’t hoarding my wi-fi strength.
• An American in Paris (1951) soundtrack CD
  • Ditto
• How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World (2019) soundtrack CD
  • Still for homework listening
• Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) soundtrack CD

• Fifteen: A Compilation of Poems by Amie Woleslagle eARC – Poetry
  • This releases next month and I am so excited for it!

So, that’s what is new to my shelves, and a peak into some of what I’m working on for school. I have two other group projects going on, as well, in addition to regular homework. It’s taking more intentionality to keep up with everything than I anticipated, but I am keeping up so far.
