WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s stand for the following questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? To participate, make a post or comment answering the three questions, link up to the host (Sam)’s post, and check out what others are reading and talking about! I typically participate once a month, approximately in the middle of the month, as a halfway check-in on my monthly reading goals.
What Am I Currently Reading?
📚 The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Susanne Collins is my main read at the moment. At almost halfway through it is certainly keeping me wanting to know what happens next, but I am not sure whether or not I am truly enjoying it.
📚 Over breakfast I’m re-reading Disruptive Witness by Alan Noble. I am so thankful that I won a copy of this book through a giveaway, so that I can re-read it at a slower pace than my first time through and digest the writing more thoroughly!
📚 On my commute to and from work I’m listening to Everblaze (KotLC #3) by Shannon Messenger. At the moment I am rather frustrated with the protagonist, but the story overall is still good.
What Did I Recently Finish Reading?
📚 The Book Woman of Troublesome Creek by Kim Michelle Richardson is eye-opening and fascinating. The story isn’t fun, but it is good and the lyrical prose enchanted me. Full review coming soon!
📚 Exile (KotLC #2) by Shannon Messenger didn’t quite live up to the quality of the first Keeper book, but it is still solid.
📚 Out of the Blue: New Short Fiction from Iceland edited by Helen Mitsios is…interesting. Since I am not widely read in translated literature, I do not feel qualified to write a formal review of this collection. I will say that the frequent themes are rather dark, sometimes disturbing, and really call into question the image I have of Iceland as a fun and beautiful resort land.
What Might I Read Next?
📚 We Alcotts by Aileen Fisher, my planned read for the LMA Reading Challenge hosted by In the Bookcase
📚 Immersed in West Africa by Terry Lister is the last new author-requested review I accepted for this season. For the next few months, I will only be accepting review requests from authors I have already worked with so that I can focus more on starting graduate school, getting settled in my new place, and everything else that comes along with that.
Happy {almost summer} Reading!
Until the next chapter,
Jana
