The first Wednesday of the month means it’s time to link up for Yarn Along! I don’t have a ton to show for this month, but I am quite happy with what I do have.
Yarn Along is a monthly link up hosted at Small Things. The point is to share our yarn-type projects (such as knitting, crochet, or similar) as well as the books we are reading. I love watching others’ projects develop, and of course I love hearing about the books people are reading, too! You can see everyone’s linked posts and the guidelines at the host’s site, here.
Knitting:
This is my favorite knit from April! It’s a mug cozy with the Batman symbol on it. It turned out a little larger than I intended, but I’m not skilled enough to freehand a bat, so I followed the smallest pattern I could find. It’s not perfect, but it’s recognizable and I think my brother in law (whom I made it for) will be happy to use it.
I made a few more superhero-themed mug cozies, but as they are gifts which I have not yet given and I know that at least one of the recipients reads my blog posts, I’m not going to share pictures of them this time.
This little hat it my other knitting achievement this month. This is the first item I have *successfully* knit using 4 DPNs. I’ve played around with this technique before, but nothing has ever turned out as well as this!
Reading:
I went back to full-time work on Monday, after being off for six weeks due to quarantine. I used a lot of my time at home to get caught up and ahead on reading books that I have at home. I got so caught up that I actually came to a point of not being sure what to read next, which is rare for me. So, I put up a poll on my Instagram and let my followers vote for what I should read next! They unanimously picked The Rules of Love and Grammar by Mary Simses. It looks fun, sounds vaguely like a Hallmark movie, and I’m excited to see how it goes! Also, the cover is beautifully spring-like, and with the sun shining through my window and flowers blooming on the roadside, this seems a very fitting time to read a book with lilacs on the cover.
I hope you have a lovely week, Readers! The sunshine and time spent at home has been very good to me, and as we work on settling into yet another version of “new normal” I hope that you are able to find the things that bring sunlight into your life.
Until the next chapter,
Jana
I love the mug cosy, I bet he loves it. The book does look appropriate for this time of year. Hope work goes well after the lockdown.
