Wrapping Up {January 2020}

It’s time for the first wrap-up of 2020! January has been a mixed bag as far as reading, especially when it comes to fiction. I read more nonfiction books about gardening and crafting this time around. It’s definitely been a productive reading month, if nothing else!

Books Completed in January 2020: 10 πŸ“š

πŸ“š Sincerely, Jem by Kate Willis ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Contemporary YA(ish) Christmas Fiction

πŸ“šΒ Family-Friendly Knits by Courtney Spainhower ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Knitting

Yes, I’m including hobby books this month. I spent a good amount of time looking for my next project and researching different facets of knitting.

πŸ“š Smart School House Crafts for KidsΒ by Kelly Dixon ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Crafting – Projects for children

I thought I was going to be entertaining a small herd of children at one point this month, and read through the projects in this book to get some inspiration for things to do with them.

πŸ“š 60 Quick Knits for Little Kids ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Knitting

πŸ“š Serious Moonlight by Jenn Bennett ⭐⭐ Young Adult Mystery/Romance

Serious MoonlightΒ was seriously disappointing. I might write a brief review at some point, but I’m not sure it’s even worth the time.

πŸ“š Mini Hoop Embroideries by Sonia Lyne ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Crafting – Needlework

πŸ“š Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Christianity

πŸ“š Redemption (MILA 2.0 #3) by Debra Driza ⭐ Young Adult Science Fiction

I am disappointed beyond words by this book.

πŸ“š Field Guide to Urban Gardening by Kevin Espiritu ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Gardening

πŸ“š The Balcony Gardener: Creative Ideas for Small Spaces by Isabelle Palmer ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Nonfiction – Gardening

Average Rating: 3.7 ⭐

Other Books Read But Not Completed:

πŸ“š Lilac Girls by Martha Kelly – Historical Fiction/WW2

πŸ“š Unfollow by Megan Phelps-Roper – Nonfiction, Memoir

πŸ“š The Selection by Kiera Cass – Young Adult Futuristic Fiction (reread)

January Goals Check (originally posted here):

I didn’t really set goals this month, but I did create a TBR list.

I’ll post February’s goals and TBR list soon, probably on Monday! In other exciting news, I have a giveaway going on here for a Barnes & Noble giftcard and some other writerly goodies to celebrate Reviews From the Stacks’ second birthday/blogiversary! Scroll down the linked page a ways, read the Giveaway Info section, and then leave a comment! It’s that simple!

How does your start to 2020 reading look? Are you on track for any goals you set?

Until the next chapter,
