The weekend before Christmas needed something special…like another Christmas-themed short story review! This one isn’t very long, so it won’t take you away from any last-minute preparations or early celebrations for long.
About the Book
Title: Kind
Author: Kellyn Roth
Genre: Historical Fiction – WW2; Christmas
Synopsis: Lt. Neil Hudson is sure to have a rotten Christmas.
How can he have anything but a rotten Christmas when he’s stuck in war-torn Germany away from his family, friends, and all hope of a decent turkey dinner?
That’s when the Slades come into his life.
My Thoughts
This is another short story I read in the summer. If you’re looking for just a taste of Christmas emotion, Kind is a solid choice! A family takes in and feeds a soldier shortly after World War 2, and suddenly his grumpy attitude dissolves. Themes of humanity, peace, war, friendship, and family float lightly through this short Christmas story.
The Verdict
Kind by Kellyn Roth is a warm and goodhearted story. It touches all the typical notes of a Christmas short story, and I have no complaints! Read Kind to just dip your toes into Christmas fiction without the commitment of a full-length novel. This demonstrates that sometimes all you need is a good meal and kind attitude to completely change your perspective and brighten your day.
Have a good weekend, Readers! Merry Christmas!
Until the next chapter,
Jana
