I can’t believe it’s time for another WWW Wednesday! The way this November started on a Friday has thrown off my perception of time. But here we are, a little more than halfway through!
WWW Wednesday is a weekly meme currently hosted by Sam at Taking on a World of Words. The three W’s stand for the following questions: What are you currently reading? What did you recently finish reading? What do you think you’ll read next? To participate, make a post or comment answering the three questions, link up to the host (Sam)’s post, and check out what others are reading and talking about! I typically participate once a month, approximately in the middle of the month, as a halfway check-in on my monthly reading goals.
What am I currently reading?
Every season seems to have one book that takes me a long time to get through. Right now it’s Augustine’s Confessions. I’m also meandering through The Radium Girls by Kate Moore on audiobook. I was keeping that in my car to listen to on my way to and from work, but I took it out when I went on a trip last week, and then forgot to put it back in. So I am still working on it, I have just taken a break for a few days.
I’m also reading Shatter City, the sequel to Scott Westerfeld’s Impostors. I read Impostors last year and enjoyed it so much that it made a last-minute run for my favorite book of 2018! You can read my review of Impostors here. I haven’t had much time to spend on Shatter City yet, but so far I’m enjoying it.
What did I finish reading recently?
In the last few weeks I finished reading:
- The Night is Far Gone by Tim Jorgenson (Historical Fiction – 1920s & 30s Russia)
- The Bakeshop at Pumpkin and Spice by Donna Kaufmann (Contemporary Romance)
- Black Sunday by Benjamin Myers (Poetry, Historical – 1920s Dust Bowl America)
- The Dog on the Acropolis by Mark Tedesco (Blend of Contemporary Literary Fiction and Historical Fiction – 400s BC)
What might I read next?
I’m currently building a couple of reading lists at the moment, so I have some ideas, but I’m not entirely sure. Once December hits, I hope to be able to read whatever Christmas books I want, but I still have a few things to check off of my reading goals for this year! I have Faith, Hope, and Ivy June checked out from the library to fulfill another state (Kentucky) and count towards my goal of reading 5 Contemporary Middle-Grade Fiction books, and I am committed to a blog tour in early December, so I’ll need to read Project Scrooge by A. M. Heath for that soon. Beyond those, I need to do a bit more thinking and finish up the lists I am working on before I say anything.
What about you, Readers? What books are on your radar at the moment? Let me know in the comments, then check out Sam’s site to see what others are reading and talking about today!
This week has been surprisingly busy, but I shouldn’t miss any more posts beyond last Monday’s. I’ll be back in the swing of things with a review on Friday and an un-themed post next Monday.
Until the next chapter,
Jana
Right now I’m slogging through a collection of writings by Immanuel Kant. It’s hard going but I’m such a big fan. I’m also reading the Redwall books to my daughter currently. After that, I’m not really sure what I’ll read!
