Mondays have gotten a bad reputation, but they don’t have to be dreadful! Monday Mini is a series of short posts designed to be uplifting and make your Monday a little brighter.
There’s a quote roughly embroidered on faded material and held in a bright yellow frame on one of the service desks at my library. It reads: “If you have a library and a garden, you have everything you need” and is attributed to Cicero. I could probably write an entire dissertation from this, expounding on how gardens and libraries nourish the whole person and are just as important (if not more so) as all of the modern technology that so often surrounds us.
This weekend I visited my grandparents, who also have an affinity for this quote, and who actually have both a garden and a library. Despite the summer heat, they still have some hearty plants, and I was able to get some nice pictures of some of them (as well as a few visitors).
I hope this glimpse of the garden provides a little peace and color in your Monday. Don’t forget to read outside once in a while, and soak in some sun with a good book when you have a chance!
